During my first EOS® session with a new client, we began to establish their most important goals for the next 90 days (their rocks). After much debate, the leadership team wanted to keep 27 items as their top priorities for the first quarter of the year. As a professional EOS® implementer, I recommend that businesses usually have between 3-7 rocks each quarter. Since most leadership teams have 3-7 people, this works well. This new client had 5 members on their leadership team. Do you think they achieved each of these 27 priorities?
The word “priority” is from a Latin word that can be traced back to at least the year 1400. For its first 540 years of existence, the word “priority” was used in its singular form. There was no such thing as more than one priority because only one item could be “first” or “most important.” It wasn’t until 1940 that the word “priorities” (plural) became widely used.
If you’re not seeing the results you want in your business, take a look at your priorities (or should I say “priority”?). What is most important to you and your business? This is where the Traction® component of EOS® can help.
